The Story of Slavery

This is a new title in «Young Reading Series Three», which is aimed at children whose reading ability and confidence allows them to tackle longer and more complex stories. A current and relevant topic, this book tells the story of slavery from its roots in ancient times, through the sugar plantations of the Caribbean and America to the slave trade's official abolition 200 years ago. It combines the narrative of the slave trade's history with important details such as how slaves travelled to their new life, working conditions, how they could gain their freedom and famous slaves. It is developed in consultation with both an early reading specialist and a history expert.
